Teh epic R0adtripz...
Well, Myself and LittleMike decided a Roadtrip was in order, hittin up mad drains all over the country, After fuck-all planning (how roadtrips should be done) I found myself kitted up to the brim with Waders, Camera's, torches, laptop, sweets, tripod and a sleeping bag boarding a train headed to Sheffield. Teh Epic-z0rz roadtrip begins...
"Hello Mike," "You alright? oh mate I'm well hungover..." "Yeah...lets do Megatron."
(In this Article, Megatron, Flow Selecta, Boredomiser, COTS & The Charleton Sewer Relief)
Megatron, Culvert, Sheffield
With LM munching on McDonald's, We kitted up and headed into the underground giant. The size of this massive culvert is only rivalled by Manchester's drain, Optimus Prime.
As you first enter, you're greeted by the watercourse divided into three sections, a mix of red brick and newer concrete construction, Towards the outfall, the giant is presented...
Cheers to Paul, Nuff-respect thy jujitsu master, for giving us a place to stay the night and for all around general entertainment. worddd.Flow Selecta, Storm Relief, Derby
The next leg of our roadtrip was a drive down to Derby, LM and Myself had been scouting Google Earth a while back, and we couldn't miss such an opportunity. The clouds had come to the surface, and with mist thick in the air, we headed to the outfall...

Once in, it becomes rather apparent that you're trespassing in an area that is home to hundreds of fish...and I mean Hundreds. It was seriously fucking crazy, I've never seen fish in a drain before, especially in such varying species. I spotted Carp, Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout, all varying in size from minions at 1 inch to the largest at 2 foot long!
The fish live in the first 50 or so metres of the relief, and that's when you enter the 12 foot high horseshoe-shaped mutha-fucker that continues for the next 2km. The construction used to be all brick, but recent repairs show that the bottom half of the tunnel is of new concrete, what a shame eh? brick would have been nice. None the less, this beast holds some serious flow selecta.
moi, the 12 foot high horseshoe stretch
At set points through-out the drain are chambers which reach a staggering 8 stories high, the middle one featuring sets of stairs with water travelling down, Again, something I've never encountered of such magnitude, Ladders are used to access the levels to the top until you see the crustiest manhole ever...yummy.
At the end of the horseshoe, you reach the Junction Chamber , Fucken awesome likesay...

These have got to be the biggest infall's (Yes there's two) I have ever seen...each one a staggering 40 foot high and 70 foot wide...
What a drain & a half. Fuckennn Flow Seleccta, Proppa bo.
Boredomiser, Culvert, Derby
After Munchin out mad-core on some of Derby's best fried chicken, we headed to Boredomiser, a nice mooch made better by the sounds of drum n bass on LM's speakers, jokes. Contrary to the name, It really isn't that boring, and the waterfall at the Infall is well sexy and shit yo.
LittleMike
outfallThrough the night we racked up the miles, heading south untill sleep was required, Being in the middle of complete fucking nowhere, we kipped in the car away from the sounds of cities, motorways and drunk club-go-ers somewhere in warwickshire. Uncomfotable as it was, getting woken up from the cops was the icing on the sewerfresh cake.
Milton Keynes Misadventures
What trip would be complete with a whole city of dissappointments? Myself and LM pulled up at a service station, stole wireless and electricity, and checked out google earth for a Milton Keynes bust-up, Everything was looking good from an aerial perspective, but what the fuck is up with MK council putting wagon sized infalls on drains that are 2 foot tall? fuckin pussy-oles.

After hours of heading through Radio 1 induced London traffic, we pick up Siologen, and headed to a small service station somewhere between Ldn and B-town, Bumping into the otter and then onwards to meet up with Loops and Snappel...
Colossus of the South, C.O.T.S, Sewer and Storm Relief, Brighton
Here's some information on C.O.T.S, by Sub-Urban.
It's Massive. We descended deep into the Lower sections checking out two plugholes along the enormous sections. The tunnels over 8 stories deep were cut out with the same machinery that was used on the Channel Tunnel...crazy shit yo...

Loops was nowhere to be found. Upon leaving deepest Brighton, a silhouette casually strolled up to us, "oh hey guys...I was just chilling on the sea-front..." Loops, you are t3h legend. After some munch and drunks rubbing themselves on my sewerfresh jumper we headed back to London, LittleMike on the verge of passing out, arriving 6am at the best house I had ever seen, with unrivalled gratitude on behalf of Loops.
This Is It, The Charlton Storm Relief, Sewer Overflow, London
Almost every London drainer or Historain would have seen the chamber in the Charlton Storm Relief. Its infamous image is displayed in various London Underground books, and on the front of Thames Water's website. Siologen and Zero finally managed to find it only a week prior to our visit.
The relief is part of the Southern Low Level sewer system, carrying the shit, piss, bathwater, sinkwater and whatever else you flush down the loo for pretty much the entirety of South London. Nuggets ftw.
More on the Charlton:
Siologen & Zero
Our time inside was short, the Tidal ranges for the Southern Low Level would slowly start rising, which is rather unnerving, drowing in sewage would be possibly the worst way to die. I've never had to deal with tidal ranges in a Sewer before, and since this was my first London Sewer, I was slightly shitting it (no pun intended). Luckily the walk to the chamber is short, and after taking a few snaps, we called it a day. Biggest thanks to Siolo' and Zero for showing us this, and shouts to Loops and LittleMike for lighting an shit.
Biggest Shouts to LittleMike for the roadtrip, Cheers to everyone who gave us floorspace, Shouts to Siologen, Loops, Ott3h, Paul, Girl in Nottingham, Snappel, The Subway Franchise, The discount store in Sheffield, Northhampton Service Station, The rubber dingy, LM's Fenix Johnny's, my uBer small sleeping bag, B-town drunks and everyone else I forgot, nuff restepc.
"What the fuck? whhaaat the fucccck? this isn't chicago...who the fuck are you homo's??!?"
