When I was little, my garden backed onto a railway track. I'd regularly sit on my climbing frame to watch trains go by, the passenger ones were fast, the freight trains pull loads miles long. My interest in train spotting didn't really spark off (thank fuck), but the seed was planted. Around the age of Ten, I used to sneak passed the fence on the bridge behind the house to walk up the tracks, watch high speed trains blast passed four feet away and place stones on the lines when freighters came by. A few years later, the spray cans summoned me back to the tracks. Railways, trains, they're dope.

So what is this place? Well Thornaby TMD is a railway Traction Maintenance Depot situated in Thornaby, England, and operated by EWS. Thornaby was a steam shed under British Railways with the depot code 51L; the modern depot code is TE. The nearest railway station is Thornaby. Following closure of the TMD building, all maintenance and servicing has been transferred to a new facility in Tees Yard. The shed building is now used to house the stored locomotives on site.

Now, according to most train-n3rds, Thornaby Depot is supposed to be shut, maybe true, however, the depot was very much in use upon busting in. It resulted in myself, Uiuo, Scott and Fox having to hide in the gangways below a very oily Class 56 Freight Engine until workers were out. Jokes though. Shouts to Uiuo, Scott, Wellwasp, Urbanfox & Dempsey.
