Thirteen

some new prod fresh through the post:

The Photix Battery Grip, i picked up this little gadget on ebay for around 25 g units, so pretty cheap when compared to Canon's own brand BG-E3 which has an rrp of £129.99. What differ's from this particular item made by Photix is that the batteries are non-removable which may have some advantages. the BG-E3 has two inserts which allow two Canon 350d/400d NB-2LH li-ion batteries, or 6 standard AA (i think, maybe AAA) batteries to be used in it,

This means your only going to get twice the amount of battery power. However with Photix's model, you supposedly get five times the amount of battery power which is roughly 2000 shots before a recharge, now i haven't had a chance to test this but so far i've taken a considerably high amount of photo's since it arrived and i havent had to touch it!
It also has a nice button which when pressed will indicated green for charged and red for reaching your last 100 shot.

What's funny, is that it costs you more to buy a single Canon NB-2LH battery, and costs the same amount as buying Jessop's own brand of the NB-2LH. The grip is also useful as it makes gripping the camera vertically much more stable. Its powered via mains (240v ac ) and can be used anywhere in the world (w/ adaptors). A pretty good buy i'd say especially if your budget can't stretch to the high prices of Canons accessory products. This was purchased from HKsupplies on eBay.

A good friend during a lecture also picked me up a non Canon version of the Remote Control RC-1 for £1 on eBay, crazy huh? in terms of features you get the option of an instant shot, or a 2 second delay. I may decide to test the range of it, but yes it works and is tiny. i put a penny in the photo to show how small it is!

Alternatively, you can also pick up one of those Universal remote controls from pound shops which you can program to work with the infra red sensor found on your camera. If you do buy one, check the instruction manual on how to configure it to a Phillips product setting. youll be pleasantly surprised when you find some of the buttons will initiate your camera to control its shutter!

untill next time! END
