Twenty Three

Yesterday I tried to put my Lomo Coloursplash Flash gun on my 400d, and to my avail, it didn't work. Bah. how annoying, but then i thought, no! i can use it for lightpainting (or more appriopriately flash painting) for nice colours in places that would otherwise look boring. Good, i have something to think about. But then i picke dup the flashgun i usually use, and thought, wait! i can convert this into a coloursplashy flashy type of flashgun that will work with my camera.

But alas, where to get filters from? I could have used some acetate and coloured it in with permenant marker, but then im limited to colours..e.g black, red, blue and green. Samples of filters would be great huh? yeah, so a friend linked me to this nice site, i was under the impression i would get a small booklet with some filters in, good enough for me. So this morning i get a package, and low n behold, ive gotten sent a shit load, and i mean Shit load of filters, two booklets, not only with filters in, with diffuser samples! how cool! and A book talking about all of them and light. Mad shit. And then i discovered it had a series of ND Filters in it! haha, ive been wanting to get some ND filters for fucking ages. it came with 5, ranging from a reduction of half a stop of light, to 4 stops of light. Now im looking forward to doing daytime long exposures! cant wait. So now i have around 200 filters of colours/diffuser's just for my flashgun. and around 300 colour filters (with the ND's) for my camera alone, im hoping they will fit in a Hoya filter holder, itll make life easier, but worst comes to worst ill do a DIY job on it. I'm not really fussed how my camera looks, as long as I can make it take better photographs.

these are only a small range of what they sent me! sexy huh?

I'll get back to you on some daytime long exposures. I'll have to find some good subject matter. I dont think i have the time of day for doing cars/transport...they creep into enough long exposure photographs at night even when i dont intend to shoot them!

But yeah, if you want some cheap (free) alternatives to expensive filters, i reccomend you check the net, free stuff is always good. God bless samples and out "try before you buy" world.
